And the Markie Award Goes to….

by Heather Foeh on Monday, October 25, 2010 in Marketing Measurement

With nearly 200 entries, the 2010 Markie Awards were the most competitive to date. Eloqua’s 50,000 users are raising the “marketing effectiveness” bar. These marketers are blending art and science, the left brain with the right, and the result is increased revenue contribution from the marketing department.

On Tuesday night at Eloqua Experience we gave out twenty Markie statues honoring excellence in marketing to companies doing some amazing things – and I do mean amazing – during a celebratory dinner with a full room of well-dressed marketers. I walked among the tables as people were being seated and the sense of excitement radiating from the finalists was absolutely contagious.

I think my favorite part of the night was watching such a diverse group of companies win awards. There were small companies with one or two marketers comprising the entire marketing team and there were huge global companies with hundreds of marketers around the world. The industries represented ran the gamut as well: from pet food supplements to an NBA team. Yet despite differences in size and/or industry, all the recipients had the same look of happiness when they accepted their award on the stage. Great marketing is great marketing no matter where you live, what you’re marketing, or how many people you work with.

The following day I found another consistent theme: I spoke to dozens of folks during our networking breaks that said, “I will be on that stage next year.” They would then tell me all the things they were learning and how they couldn’t wait to go home and make some marketing magic happen. With all that excitement, I can hardly wait to be right there again next year, cheering them on when they accept their statue.

A big congrats to all the Markie finalists and winners! These companies are poster children for marketing success. Below is the list of the 2010 Markie winners:
