With more than 20,000 attendees, grabbing attention on the expo floor of Dreamforce is no easy task. At a packed expo we went looking for the most intriguing, most creative methods for drawing people to a booth. Every year gets a little crazier. Here’s a selection of the best draws from the first day of Dreamforce ’10.
I Want Candy
Just one sugary whiff is enough to lure over the curious bystander. Cognizant broke out the cotton candy machine for this year’s Dreamforce. This fluffy classic might be murder on your molars, but the throwback to childhood and tasty texture is tough to resist.
Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto
The sci-fi theme is almost cliché at a tech event. But just like the dance, if you can pull off the robot right – do it. D&B busted out a rock ‘em sock ‘em droid this year. It’s the kind of attention nabbing device that will keep people posing all day long.
I’m a sucker for animal balloons. Turn those balloon-twisting skills to a complete portrait of R&B legend and Dreamforce ’10 performer Stevie Wonder, and you’ve got me hooked. Hire On-Demand showed off the kind of artistry that had people just stopping by to say they loved it.
Thousands of people, interstate – even international – travel, and lack of sleep: that’s the recipe for a TKO. Good thing we brought the coffee. Lattes and cappuccinos were served up and kept the Eloqua booth popping all evening long.
It Gives You Wings
What’s better than a Red Bull? How about a Red Bull served in a flashing shot glass? Ariba was serving up this magic elixir with an illuminating twist. It’s the perfect lure for the weary traveler.
Brewin’ Up Something Good
If you don’t have a catchy gadget, giveaway or musician, you can always hope you draw the lucky straw and get your booth set kitty-corner to the free beer given away on Monday night. No work, tons of play, makes your booth the life of the party.
Sign & Drive
Give away a car. You really can’t oversell this concept. Astadia, Eloqua and several other sponsors are teaming up to give away a Smart car this year at Eloqua. It’s the type of attraction that’s just plain smart.
