SxSW Panel: Has “The Message Become the Messenger”?

Last week I read a tweet in which a self-described “futurist” referred to watching “an interesting movie called Benjamin Button” – as if the blockbuster were some indie film that he’d just stumbled upon (not to be confused with StumbleUpon).  My point?  Being a futurist ain’t what it used to be.

Fortunately our forward-looking SxSW Interactive panel – Media Tomorrow: The Message is the Messenger – will definitely live up to the “futurist” billing.

Wait, what was that?  Eloqua is moderating a SxSW panel?  Yes, yes we are!  Here’s the overview:

Disruptive technologies and corroding trust in business have combined turn Marshall McLuhan’s adage “the medium is the message” inside out. Information now spreads laterally, triggered not by institution but by individual. The message is the messenger. This panel will explore how four individuals are reshaping the design, consulting, PR and journalism industries by understanding how information is consumed today.

Of course a session is only as good as the presenters – and wow is this an A-list of panelists.   Leslie Bradshaw of JESS3, Sarah Evans of Sevans Strategy, Jeremiah Owyang of Altimeter Group, and Jenn Van Grove of Mashable will all discuss how changes in the way people create, consume and share information is affecting their industries.

In the meantime, let me know in the comments field or on Twitter (@jchernov) if you have any burning questions about the future of media.  I’ll be sure to ask them!
