Eloqua’s 16 Must-Read List of B2B Blogs

by contributor on June 28, 2010 in Content Marketing

A friend showed up at work one day wearing a t-shirt that read: “No I don’t want to read your blog.”  Most of the time, that shirt is right-on.  But here are 15 times when it’s wrong, dead wrong.

Think Eloqua overlooked a blog that every B2B marketer should be reading? Please leave us a comment with your suggestion. Thanks!

A List Apart – If you’re involved in designing and developing websites – or are just interested in the meaning of web content – this blog’s special focus on web standards and best practices is for you.

ConversationAgent – The brainchild of new media factotum Valeria Maltoni, ConversationAgent’s no-nonsense style is refreshing, like when writing about crisis communications, Maltoni bluntly asks readers, “Are you prepared to deal with it?”  (Hint: You probably aren’t.)

Anne Holland’s Which Test Won? – Okay, so technically it isn’t a blog, but we look forward to receiving email updates every time she posts a new test. We think her posts are as addictive as jellybeans.

B2B Marketing Blog – This collaborative blog – sponsored by UK-based B2B Marketing Magazine – featuring a host of thought-provoking posts by guest authors is well worth anyone’s while.

Buzz Marketing for Technology – Paul Dunay, Global Managing Director of Services and Social Marketing for Avaya, manages to make every post tweet-worthy.

Citizen Marketer 2.1 – Aaron Strout, CMO of social media agency Powered, Inc. shares useful information on how to add “social” into your marketing mix with measurable results. He promises it will be worth your while. What have you got to lose?

CMO.com – Positioned as the “senior marketing executive’s one-stop shop for digital marketing insight,” this site produced by Omniture features blogs, articles, reports, surveys, statistics, and commentary. You’re bound to find a gem regularly.

Feld Thoughts – Brad Feld, a managing director at Foundry Group, shares his no-holds-barred thoughts on all manner of topics of interest to those with an entrepreneurial spirit.

GrokDotCom – The folks at FutureNow say it best: “GrokDotCom is published by the knowledge-thirsty folks at FutureNow and focuses on grokking human reactions to marketing, sales, PR & evolving media.” (“Grok” is derived from a Martian word meaning “to drink” pure knowledge until it’s deep within our molecules.) What are you waiting for?

Inbound Internet Marketing Blog – Because they pretty much invented inbound marketing, that’s why.

Daily Fix – We won’t blame you if you become addicted to these daily nuggets of wisdom from MarketingProfs.

Brazen Careerist – Penelope Trunk’s blog has nothing to do with marketing – she focuses on career advice.  But she’s a terrific writer and ridiculously honest and transparent about her life … it’s like reading a very well written soap opera, if that’s not an oxymoron.

Very Official Blog – Shannon Paul, soon-to-be Social Media Manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, boils the world of social media down into digestible best practices.

Six Pixels of Separation – Global brands and leading conferences book Mitch Joel months in advance for good reason. This leading digital visionary has a knack for helping you understand how to apply the latest trends and future promises to the here and now.

The Steve Rubel Stream – Steve Rubel, SVP and Director of Insights for Edelman Digital, a division of Edelman (the world’s largest independent PR firm), shares his insights into how emerging technologies and trends that can be applied in marketing communications programs.

Web Ink Now – How one man can produce this much content is beyond us. Join the thousands of others who think David Meerman Scott is worth listening to.  (We sure do, in fact he’s an Eloqua advisor.)

Mitch Joel’ blog name is ‘Six Pixels of Separation’ NOT ‘Six Pannels…”

IMO – some of the must reads are left out in the list, and although all are great blogs in the list, not sure how you can classify them as ‘B2B’ blog! For example – I love Brazen Careerist, but in what angel that’s in a B2B blog list! On the other hand blogs by Amber Naslund, Brian Carroll, socialmediab2b.com, B2Bbloggers.com, Avinash Kaushik, Marketingsherpa, Marketo, Radian6 etc. – which are really great for B2B marketing resources are left out!

Great input Anol. I think what people love most about lists is not who is on them, but who *isn’t*! Many of those you mentioned are great choices. I am kicking myself for not including Brian Vellmure’s Free CRM Strategies blog!

My top two B2B blogs I read are focused around Demand Generation. I recommend The Funnelholic, by Craig Rosenberg: http://www.funnelholic.com and Smashmouth Sales and Marketing Blog by Mike Damphousse. Both are well written, entertaining, and informative!

Typo above. Link to Conversation Agent says “Convesation Agent”.
